South Sudan Teacher Education Program Vacant Positions SSTEP is a three year initiative of Education Development Centre (EDC) designed to support the Ministry of General Education and Instruction (MoGEI) to deliver Teacher Education. The project has three main objectives:
1) Strengthen policy frameworks and management systems,
2) Improve access to and quality of teacher training, and
3) Increase access to and quality of Teaching and Learning Materials. EDC is an international non profit USA based Organization that builds bridges between education research and practice.
Roles and responsibilities:
1. Collect and file data on training of teachers, head teachers, inspectors and supervisors.
2. Maintain accurate data at the state level and up-to-date filling system of source documents.
3. Report all the training activities and related data to the M&E Advisor.
4. Distribute data forms for collecting training data to all the training centres and ensure that the forms are accurately filled.
5. Compile activity implementation reports in collaboration with program team based at the state and ensuring timely submission of the reports to the SSTEP Office in Juba. Participate in any other SSTEP related activities.
Qualification and Experience Required
The post holder must have a degree in a Social Science, Development Studies, or Education with relevant training. A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in M&E is required for this position.
Position title: Communications Officer (1 position re-advertised) Location:
Juba Roles and responsibilities
1. Develop an annual information plan including official reports such as the Quarterly and Annual Performance Reports;
2. In consultation with partners, Ministry of Education, and USAID, design and produce print, visual, audio and video materials: brochures, information sheets, banners, posters, short videos, press releases and articles on SSTEP;
3. Develop other materials for dissemination such as special reports, case studies, lessons learned, and special findings to a wider audience.
4. Prepare presentations and briefing sheets for visitors and members of the press;
5. Help ensure that official SSTEP publications are complete, well presented and submitted on time;
6. Provide communications input to SSTEP reporting documents such as quarterly reports and presentations;
7. Travel regularly to field sites to gather information and accompany visitors;
8. Organize information and communications resources for SSTEP including a photo archive;
9. Ensure consistency in the implementation of EDC/SSTEP/USAID branding and marking;
10. Train SSTEP staff in digital photography, interview and note taking for articles and updates;
Qualification and Experience Required
1. A degree and 2-3 years of relevant experience in communications, journalism, international relations or a similar field;
2. Computer and ICT literate;
3. Strong writing skills in English including an ability to synthesize, condense and edit print content for different audiences;
4. Demonstrated experience designing and producing reports, brochures, briefing packets and other outreach materials using professional desktop publishing and PowerPoint presentation software;
5. Experience with digital photography and digital audio and video production preferred;
6. Ability and desire to work effectively as a team member and individually, using creativity and initiative;
7. Demonstrated organizational and abilities including skills in planning and time;
Position Title: Teacher Training Institute Teacher Education Advisor (3 positions re-advertised) Locations
1) Maridi 2) Arapi (based in Arapi TTI located in Pageri Payam, Magwi County) 3) Malakal
Roles and responsibilities
1. Support TTI Principal and Administrators with institutional development and pre-service planning and budgeting
2. Build the capacity of State Quality Promotion and Innovation officials to monitor TTIs and CECs teacher training programs and Institutes and to maintain state training records
3. Liaise with CEC Teacher Education Advisors to support states to plan and implement in-service teacher training activities
4. Support CEC Teacher Education Advisors to conduct orientation and regular professional development workshops for TTI and CEC tutors
5. Build the capacity of TTI tutors through workshops and on the job training 6. Build the capacity of CEC Teacher Education Advisors to provide on-going professional support for CEC tutors 7. Support States to plan and conduct head teacher, supervisor and inspector training
Qualifications and experiences
1. B.Ed BA, or Masters
2. Primary teaching experience –two to three years teaching experience
3. Primary teacher training experience – two to three years training teachers
4. Capacity building experience especially within the education sector
5. Understand concepts of Educational Leadership and Management especially within the education sector
Position title:
County Education Center, Teacher Education Coordinators (7 position) Location: Maridi, Juba, Torit, Bor, Malakal , Wau, Rumbek Roles and responsibilities
1. Support CEC Administrator with institutional development and in-service planning and budgeting
2. Build the capacity of State Quality Promotion and Innovation officials to monitor CEC teacher training programs and maintain county training records
3. Liaise with TTI Teacher Education Advisor to support the state to plan and implement in-service teacher training activities
4. Build the capacity of CEC tutors through workshops and on the job training
5. Build a professional link with TTI teacher education tutors for professional development support
6. Support SSTEP and Counties to plan and conduct head teacher, supervisor and inspector training.
Qualifications and experiences
1. BA , BS or Bed
2. Primary teaching experience two to three years
3. Primary teacher training experience – two to three years
