One of the leading Oil Marketing Companies in Tanzania and East Africa is looking for a dynamic and energetic individual to fill in the following position:
The Occupational Health and Safety Executive is the one who plans and implements programs regarding occupational health and safety in the workplace environment including also the worker’s compensation program. The holder of this position will be supposed to offer consultation and expertise towards safety and health concerns to all staff.
1. Main Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of routine and complex administrative, technical, and professional work inanalyzing and administering various components of the environmental, health and safety programs at the company.
Develops, maintains and publicizes the environmental, health and safety policies, procedures and program.
Conducts periodic environmental, health, and safety audits in all Company facilitiesand conducts program assessments to identify department program deficiencies.
Plans and promotes safety programs and maintains knowledge of all applicable laws with regards to Environmental Occupational Health and Safety.
Works with other officers to promote and provide safety expertise and in the development and presentation of safety trainings and materials.
Performs and assists with risks management, accident investigations as needed and ensures that processes take necessary corrective action to prevent future incidents.
Create and Maintain records and reports regarding the safety and health compliance procedure of the company. This includes accidents, preventive measures and violations.Management of the reports needed for the management of the company to maintain and plan for any changes in the future.
Report and Monitor Safety programs: by evaluating the incidents of accidents and injuries that may happen in the workplace and plan any changes and other measures to prevent it.
Liaison for Occupational Health and Safety Authority and other Occupational Health and Safety Bodies and Environmental bodies of the country: Ensures the requirements regarding Occupational Health and Safety are followed by the company for auditing process.
Communicates any valuable recommendations to all concerned parties and coordination with various statutory bodies to obtain licenses and approvals.
2. Candidate Profile:
The candidate should have at least 5 years’ experience regarding workplace health and safety issues, compensation programs for employees and training in occupational health and safety.
A bachelor degree from recognized university should be aligned with industrial engineering, occupational health and Environmental Engineering.
The certifications in line with the ability in driving, first aid training, safety professional and risk management trainings will be an added advantage.
The practical knowledge and experience of safety policy and procedures especially in the Oil companies.
Knowledge of relevant legislations.
Communication skills, written and oral, with the ability to liaise effectively with a range of other professionals, e.g. contractors, surveyors, designers etc.,
Methodical approach, good analytical skills, alert, accuracy and attention to detail.
Organizational and negotiation skills.
Strong team working skills.
Excellent IT skills.
