Research Assistant, Evaluation of Efficiency and Sustainability of SACCOs Project (2-3 positions)
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Tanzanian residents for the post of Research Assistant
with the Evaluation of Efficiency and Sustainability of SACCOs Project. This is a part-time position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Research Assistant (RA) will work under the direction of a research team comprised of the Project Manager and expert from SACCOs and related authority . Training and mentoring will be provided on an ongoing basis by the project manager and short term consultants.
The RA will be responsible for collecting SACCOs financial , economic performance , appropriate policy related data and institutional level information using various means (personal interviews, focus groups, meetings, phone call ,email solicitations, etc.) from various sources (individuals, government and private agencies, businesses, internet, etc.). The RA will also work with the team to analyze data and prepare reports (to include text and graphics). Results will be presented by the team both in written form and orally at public consultations and other meetings.
The RA will also be responsible to assist with coordinating the logistics for team meetings and workshops.
Qualifications and personal attributes:
Academic experience in Economics and/or Business Economics .Knowledge of Agricultural Economics, Cooperatives , Microfinance and related disciplines would be an asset. The successful applicant is expected to have:

Knowledge of SACCOs will be additional asset .
Good knowledge of computer application especially MS suite and adobe .
Be willing to extensively travel to Mwanza, Dar Es salaam , Dodoma , Kilimanjaro, Morogoro and Mbeya
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The salary for the position is between 300,000 Tshs to 700,000 Tshs over the project life time based on the agreed output (both quantity and quality of output will be strictly adhered to ). No extra allowances will be provided.for or any other form of payment for the position.
This is a part-time position that is expected to engage the RA for approximately 15 hours per week, although some weeks will require more and some will require less. The position will tentatively run from January 4, 2013 to April 15, 2013 with possibility of extension. Schedule and timing arrangements will be negotiated with the RA prior to signing a contract.
